Stardust™ Setup Packager™ 3.0 provides developers with a solution for packaging one or more installation programs into a single self-extracting executable, suitable for Internet distribution.
An easy to use wizard guides you step-by-step through the process of converting your installations into a single self-extracting .exe file.
A variety of features are included for those who need them: digital code signing, password protection, expiration date, welcome prompt, nested packaging, and more.
Some of the key features in Stardust™ Setup Packager™ 3.0:
-
Bundle Multiple Installers into a Single EXE -
Setup Packager is designed so it can bundle multiple installation programs into a single self-extracting .exe.
This can be useful when you are looking for an easy way to bundle a 3rd party installer (e.g. Windows Media
Player runtime, Macromedia Flash runtime, etc.) with another existing setup program.
-
Data Compression Reduces Size and Download Times -
Setup Packager applies data compression to your installation files so as to reduce the overall size of your
single self-extracting .exe and provide faster download times.
-
Small Overhead (about 100K or less) -
The self-extractor is written in tight C and C++ source code, so it's only about 100K in size. And because it
uses data compression, it's possible for it to add zero or less overhead to the overall size of your installation.
-
Authenticode® Digital Code Signing -
An Authenticode signature is like digital shrink-wrap for your software. It lets your customers know that the
content of your package file is safe and hasn't been altered or corrupted.
-
Password Protection -
You can optionally password protect your single-exe extractor, so that the user must provide the password to
open the file.
-
Expiration Date -
You can specify an expiration date for your package, so that users will not be able to open the file after that
date.
-
Custom Welcome Prompt -
You can create a welcome prompt for your package file (e.g. a welcome message with an OK button, a question
with Yes and No buttons, etc.). When a user opens your package file, he or she will see this prompt as a dialog
box.
-
Nest Packages -
You can create packages inside packages, to any level of depth. Combining with prompts makes it possible to
implement advanced logic for conditional component installation.
-
Easy to Use Authoring Wizard -
Creating a single package file is easy with Setup Packager. The application guides you through this simple
process.
-
Unlimited Royalty-Free Distribution -
You can distribute an unlimited number of copies of our self-extractor as part of your product installations. We
do not charge any royalties or other hidden fees.
